This article examines the spatial differences in population density, affected by the modernization intervention process in different neighborhoods of Tehran metropolis. The density pattern of different neighborhoods of the city is a kind of indicator of its specific economic, social and cultural identity and represents the different prospects in the city. This article tries to answer the question, what is the pattern of population density during the three periods of 1975, 1985 and 1990 in the city of Tehran? By studying the spatio-temporal changes in population density, this research tries to better understand the spatial pattern of population density using arcgis and geoda and spatial statistical analysis techniques, especially spatial autocorrelation. The spatial autocorrelation technique searches for a better tool to display the pattern and order governing the spatial dispersion of phenomena and identifies spatial concentrations. The findings of this research showed that the distribution of population density expresses the spatial differences in the city of Tehran. During the three periods of 1975, 1985 and 1990, the pattern of population distribution in the city of Tehran has been clustered. Although the intensity and concentration of high-high and low-low clusters have been reduced, but in general, more dense clusters have been formed in the city and are scattered in different areas of the city, that is, new areas with high density in have appeared in the city. During these periods, indifferent (residual) areas appear in places where high-high areas have appeared, and this case indicates that new areas of the city are prone to forming high-high clusters. are high
