Development is a comprehensive process that involves various environmental, political, economic, social and security factors and variables in its realization. However, the role and weight of each of these factors in each region is different from other regions. In developing countries, the development process is often unbalanced, so that unbalanced development can be introduced as one of the indicators of developing countries. This is also clearly visible in Iran, to the extent that some areas have a favorable situation in terms of development, in which, in addition to using the environmental capabilities, the development indicators also show a favorable situation, but in some other areas, despite the existence Natural powers, the opposite is true. The purpose of this research is to know the causes and obstacles involved in the underdevelopment of Abu Musa Island. In this regard, we will examine the development status of this island in the first step and then explore the factors and variables that caused its underdevelopment. The authors of the article assume that the underdevelopment of Abu Musa Island is a product of various environmental, political, security and economic factors originating from local, national and international conditions. The evidence of this study has been collected from official statistics, statements of relevant officials and interviews. The research method in this research is descriptive-analytical which first describes the current situation of the island and then shows the relationship of various variables in the underdevelopment of the island. The results of the investigations show that a series of factors and political issues such as the status of the island's ownership, Iran's relations with the United Arab Emirates and the Arab and Western countries, and the weakness of macro-politics, as well as security issues such as the military importance of the island and external threats, along with some Geographical issues such as geographic location, adverse climatic conditions, population instability and geographic isolation have caused the underdevelopment of this island. This article is the result of the research in Chachob, a master's thesis with the title of examining the development capabilities and obstacles of Hormozgan province and its impact on Iran's national security.
