Spatial analysis of the stability of rural settlements around the river ecosystem based on the village ecosystem model Case study: Villages around the Kashkan river ecosystem

Abstract

The sustainable development of the land depends on the stability of the rural system. The village ecosystem model as a new approach can play an effective role in regional and national sustainable development. Therefore, awareness of changes in sustainable development and understanding its structure, dimensions and spatial extent in rural areas are considered important areas of decision-making and planning. The current research aims to measure the spatial levels of stability of rural settlements located on the edge of the Keshkan River in Poldakhter city. This research is based on the objective, applied and descriptive-analytical research method. The studied area is the villages located around the Keshkan river in Poldakhtar city. Weighting of the research indicators was done using f'anp model and data analysis was done using vikor multi-criteria decision making method. Cluster analysis and gis software were used to classify the studied villages in terms of sustainability levels, and linear regression was used to analyze factors affecting sustainability. The findings of the research showed that out of the 23 villages studied, 3 villages are in very strong stability, 8 villages are in strong stability, 5 villages are in medium stability and 7 villages are in unstable condition. Stable villages have a larger population and are located in the central areas of the city where the alluvial lands caused by the river are wider and closer to the city center in terms of communication. However, this stability has not happened equally in all indicators of village stability. which indicates the incomplete scanning of the residential system of the city (from the structural and functional aspect). In terms of the application of quantitative models and techniques, this research has used the f'anp model in determining rural sustainability levels and the research results have proven the effectiveness of this model in geographic studies.
