Evaluating the effectiveness of citizens' participation on the quality of life in urban affairs (case study: Niyriz city)

Abstract

Today, the quality of life as the highest level of socio-economic goals of countries and as the golden key of citizens' participation, in order to properly and efficiently plan to improve and increase the welfare of citizens, is measured and evaluated in two objective and subjective dimensions. The present study tries to evaluate the quality of life and its impact on citizens' participation in the city of Niriz with a practical approach using a descriptive survey method. The statistical population is all heads of households in Niriz city in Fars province, 321 people were selected as a sample using Cochran's formula and distributed in a cluster among thirteen neighborhoods in the city. The validity of the questionnaire was determined by using experts' opinions and its reliability by calculating Cronbach's alpha (quality/80 and participation/84). To analyze the data, statistical tests were used in spss and amos software. The results of this research show that among the indicators measured, the family life satisfaction index with an average of (3.75) and health with an average of (3.16) have the highest level of satisfaction and the economic index with an average of (2.56) has the lowest level of satisfaction with the quality of life. has dedicated itself. Also, in the field of participation, the highest participation of citizens is related to the political index with an average of (3.06) and the lowest participation is related to the mental and spiritual index with an average of (2.34). The results of the correlation analysis test also showed that increasing the quality of life can lead to an increase in citizens' participation in urban affairs, and there is a direct and meaningful relationship between the two. Also, the regression results show that the family life index (beta 0.20) and the economic index (beta 0.13) have the greatest impact on participation, and in total, quality of life dimensions predict 07% of the variance of participation. showed that quality of life is a positive and significant predictor of participation.
