Abstract

The problems related to the livability of peri-metropolitan villages cannot be explained with the concept of rural livability, and they are affected by the cities under their influence under a communication network and rural-urban linkages. The current research is to explain the livability of villages in the metropolitan area of Tehran (Varamin city). The method of this research is exploratory-explanatory and it tries to explain the role of factors and effective forces in the livability of villages around the metropolis in the form of intra-rural and extra-rural factors. In this regard, the first review of theories and the conceptual model of analysis was presented. On this basis, the social, economic, environmental and physical dimensions and its items were identified under the title of intra- and extra-rural factors through item meta-combination and Delphi. 19 items were identified in the form of four dimensions for the set of external/extra-rural factors effective in revealing the livability status of villages and 116 items and 17 components were identified for the internal factors of the livability of villages around Tehran metropolis. Exploratory factor analysis was used in the verification and exploration of the mentioned factors and the results were confirmation of 19 extra-rural factors and 81 items of intra-rural factors. The statistical population of the research consisted of 53,255 residents of the villages around Varamin and Javadabad (two urban areas of Varamin) and the aforementioned cities, as well as 140 local experts, experts, and managers. Random cluster sampling was used in the sampling of the residents and the sample size was determined to be 682 people through Cochran's formula with an error of 0.05% and it was distributed among the centers in the form of stratified quota. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis test and structural equations were used to analyze the data. Also, lisrel and spss software were used for statistical data analysis and spatial display of data. The findings of the research showed that external/extra-rural factors and intra-rural factors have influenced and explain the livability of villages around the metropolis, but the impact of extra-rural factors was more than intra-rural factors.
