Evaluation of urban development plans from the perspective of citizens Case of study: Pedestrian construction of Salman Farsi Street, Ahvaz

Abstract

One of the strategies of people's participation and monitoring of urban development plans is to evaluate these plans from the citizens' point of view. One of the important urban development projects that creates several urban development projects within or around itself is pedestrian construction. These plans are formed following the gradual reduction of riding dominance over urban spaces and passages and human-centered urban planning and design based on the needs of pedestrians in order to promote the values ​​and social and cultural attractions of urban spaces. These plans are aimed at increasing the quality of urban spaces and environmental issues and improving social, economic, perceptual, etc. spaces. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the level of citizens' satisfaction with the pedestrianization plan of Salman Farsi Street in Ahvaz from different physical, social, economic and environmental aspects. A quick look at the city of Ahvaz and most of the big cities of the country, where the urban open spaces and sidewalks are not in a favorable condition in terms of responding to the needs of the citizens, confirms the necessity and importance of this research. The method of descriptive, analytical and survey research has been carried out through documentary and field data and information. The sample community includes businessmen and residents of Salman Farsi street and passers-by. The sampling method is random and the sample size is 100 people. Using spss statistical software and using parametric and non-parametric Ttest, Chi-square, Correlation, Friedman tests, the questionnaire has been analyzed. The results of this research show that the citizens are satisfied with the construction of the pedestrian path, which is the most satisfaction of the citizens in the physical, social, economic and finally environmental aspects. In general, according to the condition of Salman Farsi street before the implementation of the pedestrian plan, which was a dense street with high traffic, the implementation of the plan of sidewalks and public open spaces is one of the necessities of big cities.
