Measuring the quality of life in transition neighborhoods

Abstract

The concept of quality of life is one of the most basic concepts of development in today's era, which examines and evaluates the general well-being of the individual and society. Although this concept is not new and has been of interest for a long time, it is now used in a wide range of fields of development, health and politics; in such a way that it can be called a new paradigm. Measuring the quality of life usually requires the use of indicators subjectively or objectively and rarely with both types of indicators. Transitional urban neighborhoods have a distinct quality of life with a special location, which presents local residents with numerous opportunities and challenges. The main goal of the current research was to measure the quality of life in "urban transition" neighborhoods by relying on subjective indicators. For this purpose, 244 questionnaires were distributed among the residents of Darwaza Shemiran neighborhood and the resulting data were reviewed and analyzed. The research method in the present study is exploratory. The results of the research showed that the quality of life in Darwaza Shemiran neighborhood is at a low level, so that 64.3% of the residents of the neighborhood are dissatisfied with their quality of life. The most dissatisfaction of the residents was related to the environment of the neighborhood and the least dissatisfaction was related to the access area. The territory of housing and the quality of service facilities have had the greatest impact on the quality of life of the residents of darvez Shemiran neighborhood. According to the statistical community, the results of the study show that the "transition" of this neighborhood is an important factor in reducing the quality of life of the residents.
