Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The corresponding author of the article must be a faculty member, and the article must be submitted to the journal by them. The Geography Quarterly will not be obligated to respond to, review, or follow up on articles submitted by other individuals (students at various levels of study).

Article Preparation Guidelines for Geography Quarterly

To prevent delays in the review process and ensure timely publication of the article, please pay attention to the following points:

  1. Articles must be prepared in Persian language with an English abstract and keywords according to the guidelines below and submitted for review through the journal's website.

  2. The journal only accepts scientific-research articles (basic or applied).

  3. The submitted article must be within the journal's scope (Geography) and the announced thematic areas. Articles outside this scope will not be considered.

  4. After registering on the journal's website (https://mag.iga.ir), the corresponding author must submit one copy of the article with the author(s)' names and one anonymous copy (without author names) solely in Word format through the website.

  5. The author(s) must commit not to submit the article sent to this journal to any domestic or foreign publication or national/international conference until the final result is announced by the reviewers.

  6. Considering the confidentiality of the review process and the anonymity of the author(s) and reviewers to each other, please ensure that the anonymous PDF and Word files contain no trace of the author(s)' names in any part of the article (including figures, tables, and even in the file properties).

  7. The article structure should be organized as follows: Article Title, Persian Abstract, Introduction, Research Method, Discussion and Findings, Conclusion, Suggestions, Acknowledgments (if necessary), References.

  8. Title: Should be short, precise, and clearly express the article's topic, typed in B Titr 14 font.

  9. Author Name(s): The first and last name(s) of the author(s) should be typed in B Mitra 11 Bold, two lines below the title, listed one below the other. The academic rank/degree and specialty, university name, city, and country should be written below the title aligned to the left. The email address of the corresponding author (preferably belonging to their university or institution) should be provided as a footnote. ORCID code and email for the corresponding author are mandatory. If derived from a thesis/dissertation, the defense location and supervisor should be mentioned as a footnote, and the main text of the article should also be included. (All authors must be faculty members, with only one being a student or graduate.) Important: Author information in the article and on the website must be exactly the same (in Persian and English).

  10. Abstract: The first page of the article is dedicated to the Persian abstract and keywords. The Persian abstract should include a brief yet comprehensive description of the article's content, emphasizing the problem statement, objectives, methods, and conclusion, with a maximum of 250 words.

  11. Persian Keywords: Include 3 to 5 keywords, which should be determined in a way that they can be used for creating a subject index.

  12. Introduction: Should start from the second page.

  13. Main Text and References: Should be typed single-sided, with 26 lines per page, each line 12 cm long, and single line spacing.

  14. Articles should not exceed 20 typed pages (adhering to item 13).

  15. Article Content: Introduction, Theoretical Foundations, Research Method, Discussion and Findings, Conclusion must be typed in B Mitra 13 Light font.

    1. Main headings of the article should be typed in B Mitra 13 Bold, and subheadings in B Mitra 12 Bold.

    2. The content of the Introduction section must justify the research problem, questions, hypotheses, and objectives by reviewing previous research and must clearly state the innovation of the study. Furthermore, please note that the Introduction section should be a cohesive whole without subsections.

    3. Figures: Must be completely clear, with their caption written below: Figure 1 - ... . If necessary, the source should be included in parentheses (Source: Shokouei, 2008: 50), typed in B Mitra 10 Bold.

    4. Tables: Must be completely clear, in Table Grid format, with their caption written above, typed in B Mitra 10 Bold.

    5. Equations and Mathematical Formulas: Should be typed one font size smaller than the main text, aligned to the left. Their number should be written on the right side, simply as: Equation (1). Depending on their use, the equation number must also be referenced within the text.

    6. Citation Style for Persian and English sources (books and articles) within the text: (Taylor, 2006: 45) or (Kamran et al., 2020: 34).

    7. References Section: List Persian sources first in B Mitra 12 font, followed by English sources in Times New Roman 11 font. To ensure consistency in the reference lists of all articles, please follow the patterns below:

    23. The English title and extended English abstract must be typed on a separate page at the end of the article.

    1. The journal's editorial office reserves the right to edit articles.

    2. The official language of the journal is Persian, but articles in English can also be reviewed.

    3. If the author(s) have received material or moral support from an organization or university, they are required to include a statement to this effect at the end of the article.

    4. After the initial article acceptance process, please deposit the amount of 10,000,000 Rials for article publication into Account Number 0108109490008 at Bank Melli, under the name "Faslname-ye Anjoman-e Geografiya-ye Iran" (Geography Association of Iran Quarterly). Upload the deposit slip through the journal's system. (The article title and authors' names must be written on the slip).

    5. Confidentiality Statement: The names and email addresses entered in this journal's site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
