Abstract

Wind is God's gift and as one of the manifestations of new energies, it has had a special place for researchers in recent years to replace fossil fuels. Considering its topography and relative location, Semnan province has suitable conditions for conducting research in this field. The purpose of this research is to measure the potential of using wind with a climate approach in order to set up wind power plants in Semnan region. Research method first. To fuzzify criteria, control points and the type of fuzzy function for each layer (wind speed, prevailing wind speed, pressure, temperature, slope, height, protected areas, land use...) based on their membership rating in the range of Zero to one was specified in the hydrangea software. Then, according to the importance of information integration, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was selected for weighting the layers and implemented with the help of Expert choice software. Then, ArcGIS software was used for spatial analysis and overlapping layers, and after analyzing the information, Semnan province was divided into four levels: excellent, good, medium and poor in terms of the ability to build a wind power plant. The results showed that there are excellent areas for the construction of wind power plants in the region including the northern area of Damghan station with an area of 343301.70 hectares or 3.54%. In addition, good grade areas with an area of 250.2279250 hectares or 23.43% of the area under study, including the stations of Birajmand, southwest of Shahrood (representative station: Shahrood), Damghan and north of Garmsar (representative station: Garmsar).
