Abstract

The process of urbanization and urban growth in different regions of the world is the result of intertwined interactions between various social, economic, political, technological, geographical and cultural global and local factors. Based on this, identifying the factors that drive and shape the growth of cities is of vital importance for urban planning and sustainable development, especially in developing countries, and as a tool for predicting future trends, controlling and guiding city growth, and organizing future development. city ​​and finally, efficient and targeted management of cities is used. The main goal of this study is to identify the biophysical and socio-economic driving and shaping factors of the growth of Tehran metropolis.
