Abstract

As one of the most important and dense human habitats, cities are of particular importance and require safety and physical protection of infrastructures as well as stability and resistance against natural and human disasters. Passive defense is one of the topics that have been the focus of planners and designers of Iranian cities in recent years.
Urban development has different dimensions, if we pay attention to their protection and sustainability, we will see many benefits in times of emergency and crisis. This research tries to apply the principles of passive defense in urban planning with an emphasis on critical and utility uses in small-scale cities as threatened uses and to secure urban spaces by providing them with a defensive role. Also, how to protect and defend people and their living places by applying passive defense rules and considerations in the present and future.
