Evaluation of smart urban growth indicators using the factor analysis model, a case study: District 1 of Shiraz city

Abstract

Smart growth strategy is one of the recent perspectives of urban planning in line with sustainable urban development. The current research was done with a descriptive-analytical method using a questionnaire, and the reliability of the research tool was obtained based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.82. The statistical sample was 321 citizens of Shiraz region and the data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS software. In order to determine the status of smart growth indicators in one region of Shiraz, the factor analysis model has been used. The results of Bartlett's sphericity test showed that there was a significant relationship between the intelligent growth criteria in the studied area with sig 0.000, in fact there is a significant correlation between the indicators. Also, in the measure of compactness of four factors "net residential density" with a factor load of 0.760, "access rate of public transportation or walking to the workplace" with a factor load of 0.820 and "use of public transportation or walking to access the city center" They were identified as the most important factors with a factor load of 0.790. In the criterion of accessibility, the factors of "apartment living rate" with a factor load of 0.821, "ease of access to public transportation" with a factor load of 0.570, "the rate of using public transportation or walking to access the city center" with The factor load of 0.539 was identified as the most important factors and finally, in the criterion of user mix, the factors "percentage of households in a residential unit", "walking or public access rate to recreational facilities" and "ease of access to public transportation" respectively were identified as the most important factors.
