This article examines the macro urban systems of Azerbaijan region in the years 1335-1385. The research method is content and statistical analysis. The required information was collected in the form of documents, and while processing and classifying the data, the situation of the cities in the northwest of Iran was investigated with different models such as the size ranking model, adjusted size ranking, entropy coefficient, Lorenz curve, Gini coefficient and urban concentration index.
The purpose of this research is to know the level of balance in the macro urban system of Azerbaijan region. The result of the research shows that the North West urban system is somewhat superior only in terms of the indicators of the first urban concentration coefficient, but in the rest of the investigated models such as size rank, adjusted size rank, Lorenz curve, Gini coefficient and entropy coefficient of the trend The urban network of the whole country has complied, and it is far from the normal and standard state. Therefore, this is due to the increase in the number of very small cities with a small population and the increase in the population of very large cities in the urban system of Azerbaijan. Due to its centrality, political, administrative, financial, etc., the city of Tabriz is still the top city in the northwest urban network system, and the cities of Urmia and Ardabil are in the next ranks as the centers of the provinces. In general , the urban hierarchy in the urban network of Azerbaijan is still far away from the rank-size model of "Zipf" and the adjusted model of "Behfrooz". Therefore, by providing services and strengthening small and medium cities and reducing the growth of large cities in the region, it is possible to optimally distribute the urban hierarchy in the macro level of the Azerbaijan region.
