Abstract

The northern basins of the country are among the areas where the percentage of landslides is relatively high and also the
combination of natural and human factors has caused a lot of damage caused by this phenomenon. Investigating the effective
factors in the occurrence of landslides in an area and zoning the risks resulting from it can effectively help in reducing
the damages resulting from this phenomenon by avoiding these areas. With this aim, it is necessary to prepare a landslide
risk zoning map for these areas.

Landslide stratification is one of the methods that can be used to identify critical areas in terms of slope stability.
The current research has been carried out with the aim of selecting and identifying the most important and effective
factor in the occurrence of landslides in the Kargan River Talash basin.

The results show that the lithology factor, slope, road and slope direction in Talash basin are the most important factors
of landslides in the target area, respectively. According to the landslide zoning map, the catchment area was divided into
five zones in terms of susceptibility to landslides, and areas with high to safe landslide risk were identified. The most
mass movements of the solifluction type in the high and pasture areas of the basin and in the north and northeast facing
areas and landslides also occur around the roads, especially the forest and mountain roads.
