Abstract

The city is formed as a part of the spatial system hierarchy and political-geographical divisions of each country based on various indicators such as the type of government, management, level of awareness, social interest and people's participation in the decision-making system. Since each element can be defined within the framework of its performance characteristics. Therefore, based on the different roles that are defined in the subsystems of the urban system, it is possible to identify different types of components of the system. Considering the role of integrated urban management as a system and agent of control and guidance of the urban system in big cities, it is possible to mention the elements under the supervision of the mentioned management, i.e. municipal areas, as constituent elements of the urban system. On the other hand, the size and dispersion of big cities demand a balance in the volume of operations of this management with its capacity. In this regard, different service organizations divide the city of their service into smaller units. Along with paying attention to the factors of density, dispersion and future urban development, they define limits in these divisions. Therefore, due to the diversity of the number of divisions, the diversity of criteria and bases of divisions, the dispersion of service centers and the non-compliance of the boundaries of divisions and the lack of coordination of executive bodies, a severe disorder has arisen in the administration of city affairs, and there is a need for an integrated management in the physical divisions of cities. The purpose of this article is to investigate various zoning within the physical-spatial structure of Shiraz city. The type of applied research and the method of investigation is documentary, survey and content analysis. And finally, it will be concluded that it is possible to have the same zoning in cities, which may be physically different but functionally overlapping, to prevent parallel work, rework and organizational conflict, waste of capital, cost and time reduction. . In this research, by using GIS tools and satellite images, the collection, design and analysis of various areas of Shiraz city have been done.
