Explaining the status of happy city criteria in urban planning (Case study of Salmanshahr city)

Abstract

The quality of the city and urban spaces is an effective factor on happiness, and the level of happiness in urban spaces can also be an expression of the quality of the spaces. Therefore, happiness can be considered as vitality, a basic quality in urban spaces. This research aims to explain the criteria of the happy city in urban planning in Salmanshahr city. This research is descriptive-analytical and the data collection method is field. Using theoretical foundations and research background, a questionnaire was designed and 400 questionnaires were distributed among the statistical population using Cochran's formula. Data analysis was done using SPSS software in the form of descriptive and inferential analysis. According to the review of the theoretical background of the research as well as the study of the theoretical foundations, the most important environmental variables that can affect the happiness of citizens were identified. These variables are: visual beautification of the city, access and transportation, housing, life and vitality, sense of security, social interactions, territorialism and sense of belonging, green space and nature, environmental health, tourism spaces, play and sports spaces, income and employment. which are divided into five general dimensions, visual, physical, socio-cultural, environmental, urban and economic services and facilities. The findings of the research show that the average feeling of happiness based on the Vinhoven method among the citizens of Salmanshahr city was 5.65 out of 10. According to the results of the Sperman correlation coefficient test, all research variables are related to the dependent variable of the research (happiness) and also according to the results of the Kruskal-Wallis test, the investigated indicators have a significant difference among the five areas of Salmanshahr city.
