Analysis of the content of the fourth program in relation to the goals of the United Nations decade

Abstract

Today, environmental challenges such as air pollution, the problem of landfilling waste, especially nuclear waste, global warming, the reduction of resources due to their excessive consumption, and such challenges are being tackled by the global community and pro-environmental organizations. It has forced them to help preserve the environment by using people's forces and providing their participation. But the main problem in this regard is that publicizing efforts to preserve the environment requires increasing environmental knowledge and awareness among the general public along with experts. Therefore, the importance of discussing education and its role in preserving the environment is of great importance. For this reason, UNESCO, as an international pro-environmental organization, with financial and spiritual support from countries, is trying to increase the fields of self-management of the environment among the people of different countries. For this purpose, the years 2005 to 2014 have been named as the Decade of Nations for the education of sustainable development and especially the environment. J.A. Iran, as a member of UNESCO, is committed to act within the framework of the policies announced by international organizations based on international covenants. Now, the key question is whether the goals outlined in the fourth development program in the framework of the decade of nations have paid attention to the role of education in preserving the environment or not? Based on this, in this article, which is part of a project entitled "Analysis of cultural, social and environmental programs and policies of Iran in the fourth program according to the goals and executive plan of the United Nations Decade for Education in the Service of Sustainable Development (2005-2014) )" was analyzed with the method of content analysis and comparative analysis on the level of attention paid to the goals of the United Nations Decade in relation to education for sustainable development among the documents of the Fourth Plan in order to show that the approach of the Fourth Development Plan of the country is in line with the goals of the Decade of Nations. ? The findings show that in the country, at least in the ideological dimension, policymaking and legislation have started in the direction of moving towards sustainable development.
