Yazd-Ardakan plain, which is a part of central Iran, is considered a relatively calm region from the tectonic point of view. The purpose of this article is to investigate the morphotectonic structures in this plain, which indicate the new (Quaternary) tectonic activities in this basin. In order to achieve this goal, while studying the topographic, geological and geomagnetic maps along with the review of aerial photographs of the area and wells drilling logs, ground studies and measurements were carried out. Ground studies and measuring the slope, direction and extension of faults or pseudo-fault shapes indicate changes in the state of sediments and formations of the Tertiary period in the Yazd-Ardakan plain axis. Examining the drilling log of the wells shows that there were active faults that were covered and buried by the sediments of the Quaternary period. In the parts where the faults have caused a more recent vertical or oblique displacement of Quaternary layers, their impact can also be seen on the level of the plain, which is presented in the geological maps. From this research, it can be concluded that despite the tectonic calmness of Yazd-Ardakan Plain, it is very necessary to study this area as closely as possible in order to more accurately evaluate the intensity and time of young tectonic events (ageing of movements).
