This research has been conducted with the aim of investigating the impact of climate change on food security in the villages of Meighan District, Nehbandan County, South Khorasan. To achieve this goal, first, target groups (100 households in a targeted manner) were determined to measure the impact of climate change on food security, and indexing was done to identify the different domains of food security. These indicators include the index of conditions of access to food insecurity of rural households and the ranges of food insecurity of rural households. Finally, in terms of food security, rural households were classified into four groups: mild food security, moderate food security, and food insecurity. The change in the main coordinates of food security and livelihood of families as a result of climate change in this region has been clarified according to field observations and interviews with rural people, the main finding showed that communities that have never experienced extreme temperatures, continuous droughts and dust have not experienced it, they are currently facing its abundance. The findings of the research revealed that all the households of the statistical population have food insecurity, but their levels of food security are different. Households that are vulnerable to climate change have a high degree of food insecurity. Rural households prefer to choose different strategies in response to changing weather conditions that help improve household food security. Non-agricultural income has played an important role in creating wealth and reducing food insecurity problems in families.
