The city of Bojnord, like many cities in the country, has gone through an all-round and unparalleled transformation since 1340, and it is very important to know its nature, dimensions and effects. Investigations have been conducted on the origin, process and consequences of these developments in Bojnoord and some have considered this city to be subject to urban sprawl in terms of physical space. The present study, with a critical look at such judgments, has tried to investigate and analyze the physical-spatial developments of Bojnord city, because it seems that the phenomenon of urban expansion and specifically the spatial-physical dispersion of Iranian cities cannot be based on criteria and theory. The scattered classics of the urban surface arising from the Western-European experience should be correctly understood, but it should be examined and analyzed within the framework of the conditions and processes governing the country in general and cities in particular. Considering the nature of the problem and the fact that the statistical population (study area) is the entire city of Bojnord, the research has been carried out using meta-analysis and based on secondary data. The result of the research is that the nature of factors and effective processes in the transformations of Bojnord city requires that the expansion of this city during the discussed years should not be considered urban sprawl, because the frequent increase in the area of Bojnord city has led to the number of 14 villages with land related facilities and some existing informal settlements will be placed in the new official limits of the city as a result of the administrative decision, and as a result, the ratio of the city's area to its population will suddenly increase quantitatively. In addition, considering the nature and scattered features of the classic city in the experience of the West and Europe; What has happened in the spatial development of the legal boundaries of Bojnord city; In essence, it cannot represent the scattered factors and processes of the urban development, because the annexation of existing rural cores on the outskirts of the city and the creation of residential-administrative settlements are planned phenomena that take place according to the policies and decisions of the government and urban management in line with the long-term expansion of this city. has taken. Therefore, according to the existing facts, this situation can be considered within the framework of the natural and necessary development of Bojnord city.
